How to Make a Custom Social Media Post

A Step-by-Step Tutorial

The anatomy of a social media image

An image of the product is placed prominently in the top half of the image. Your company logo is placed in the bottom right corner of the image. The product’s logo is placed in the bottom left corner of the image.

Step 1 - Upload your company logo

Click on the Choose File button to upload your company’s logo. Logos can be uploaded in JPG and PNG file types. The space allotted for your company logo is 400px in width x 190px in height, and ideally will not have a lot of white space around it. Click the Submit button once the file is uploaded.

Step 2 - Select the product to highlight

At the bottom of the page, select which Keystone product you would like to highlight in your social media post. The product image will populate where the instruction text is shown. The product logo will populate in the grey box next to your company’s logo. This is the final image for your social media post.

Step 3 - Review the image

Review the image shown. If you’d like to change the product, simply select a different option. To change your company logo, you’ll need to back out of the current page to return to the previous page, and upload a new logo file.

Step 4 - Download image

Once you are happy with the final image, click the Download Image button at the bottom of the page. Be sure to name and save the file appropriately. Post the image on either LinkedIn or Facebook with your own custom caption and begin your own branded social media campaign!

Step 4b - Repeat for other image

If you’d like to create another social media image using the same company logo, simply repeat steps 2-4.

  • Remember that no one wants to be ‘sold to’ on social media. Focus on providing your audience with valuable information, or a solution to a problem.
  • Be aware that only the first 3 lines of copy will be visible to users on their feed without clicking ‘see more’ to expand the post.
    • Use the post to peak their interest and direct them to a landing page with more information.
    • If a post is too long, the viewers could lose interest and keep scrolling.
  • Make the first sentence enticing to viewers to encourage them to read more.
    • Start off with a strong trigger word, such as ‘Save’, ‘New’, or ‘Easy’, or by asking a question.
  • Use appropriate hashtags to make your content more visible to your audience.
    • Users can search LinkedIn by hashtag, or follow hashtags so they see relevant posts in their feed.
    • Don’t make your post look like spam. Stick to about 5 relevant hashtags per post.
    • Examples: #LEDLighting #Retrofit #KeystoneTechnologies #LED #EnergyEfficient
  • To keep a post at the top of your page’s activity feed, click the 3 black dots on the top right corner of your post and select Pin to top.
  • To make an image link to the corresponding page:
    • Add the URL link to the caption of the post
    • A box with a default image and link to the page will automatically populate
    • Click the pencil icon in the top right corner of the box
    • Then click the camera icon in the top right corner of the box
    • Select the file for the image you just created to be uploaded
    • You can also adjust the article title that appears by clicking the Edit article title button in the top right corner of the box
  • Please give us as much info as possible about your issue within the MRC so we can fix the problem. We will inform you when the issue is fixed so you may download the material you desired. Thank you.
